Facilities to enhance learning
We work towards providing the best possible facilities to enhance our students' learning and experiences. This is some of what is on offer:
The Round is the newest addition to the Plenty Campus. This outstanding building has been designed to signify the importance and focus of the senior years as students transition to Tertiary education. There are 10 new classrooms including breakout and private study areas, three specialist Senior Years science laboratories including Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories, as well as a Primary and a Middle Years Science laboratory. Learning spaces are interconnected and allow for a huge variety of teaching and learning possibilities, with the latest learning technologies seamlessly integrated into each classroom. The building’s circular form includes central courtyards and light wells and makes an impressive addition to the Campus.
Primary Adventure Playground
The Primary Adventure Playground, opened in 2013, invites creative, collaborative and imaginative play for primary children. It houses a water aqueduct, pump and spout, a bush garden, sandpit, stepping stones and old rowboat. The new play facility is a lunchtime favourite of our primary students, encouraging them to develop their imaginations and teamwork skills through play. Creative Arts Centre
The wonderful Creative Arts Centre houses our Art, Design and Technology, Media, and Visual Communication and Design classes as well as the Food Technology Centre. Our annual Art Exhibition, where students' work is showcased for parents and the school community to admire, is a testament to the creativity of our students and the wide range of media they are able to work with. Our dedicated Food Technology Centre has commercial grade ovens, cooktops, grills and preparation areas and a dining room. Along with cooking skills, students learn subjects such as food chemistry, safe food handling practices and how to make healthy eating choices. Food and Technology subjects are offered throughout primary and secondary years.
The Sinclaire Trust Enterprise Centre
The Sinclaire Trust Enterprise Centre houses the Primary and Secondary libraries. More than just a physical space for students to find books do research and complete homework, the libraries are used by students to browse and read, play board games, chat, draw pictures, create a project, play with the puppets in the puppet theatre and focus on revision. Students also enjoy talks from visiting authors and participate in the Young Australians Best Book Awards.
The Founders' Centre
The Founders' Centre is a multi-purpose building for the Primary area. It provides a welcoming space for primary events and performances. It is also a wonderful venue for parent functions and is a public meeting place. It holds 300 people seated and has a portable stage, AV equipment and kitchen facilities.
The sports facilities include a fully equipped gym, synthetic surface tennis courts and hockey fields and a variety of recreation areas. A full-size AFL-Cricket oval provides a vital extension of the School’s sporting facilities with the most flexibility for the delivery of sports, PE and competition programs. The Plenty Campus Oval and electronic scoreboard provide a wonderful community space for whole school activities and various House school activities. Students have the choice of playing a wide range of sports, such as soccer, hockey, netball, softball, basketball, cricket, rugby, football and tennis.
The Equestrian Centre provides our students with full riding facilities. Students can either take lessons or compete on their own horses or on horses provided by the School. Ivanhoe Grammar School participates in interschool competitions throughout each year and enjoys a high level of success, with many of our riders going on to senior competition.
There is a wide range of performing arts opportunities at Plenty. Through our music department, students can learn a wide variety of instruments, even the bagpipes! There is also a strong tradition of vocal music. There are ensembles, concert bands, choirs and bands for students to join throughout their primary and secondary years. In addition, the school musicals, held every year for secondary and every second year for primary, are a wonderful showcase of the talent of the Plenty Campus. The School has an arrangement with the nearby Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre, which allows our musicals to be held in a professional theatre with full lighting and sound facilities.
Every student in Year 5 and 6 have their own iPad to further their learning, whilst students in years 7 to 12 have their own laptop. We have an in-house Information Technology support team who assist with computer issues and ensure the school is kept up to date with items such as smart boards and video conferencing equipment.
Plenty Campus enjoys beautiful grounds. Buildings are nestled among lovely gardens and there are plenty of recreation and play spaces. As well as adding to the welcoming feel of the Campus, the grounds offer students a wide range of locations to play sports or sit and chat during their breaks.
